Nor do you need to take ropes, or learn complicated knots just to get it fixed in the first place.
Many of you may not feel that it is inconvenient to carry ropes or learn knots. But for most of us, convenience beats everything. If something is not convenient, you really start to question if it is even worth it!
So, here I come with the most easy, convenient and a portable solution to your problem.

What are hammock tree straps?
Hammock tree straps are actually belt like straps that can carry a huge amount of weight between them. They are not only used to hang hammocks, but any type of swings, saucers or tyres.
These straps let you hang a hammock/ swing to a tree, without damaging the trees, straps or hammocks. This way you can easily take your hammocks to a campground and set it up anywhere you prefer.
Things to consider while buying Hammock straps:
Only buy a hammock strap if it follows the following minimum requirements:
See that there are actually two straps in the box. Some vendors sell just a single strap. While this strap is lower priced, you will have to buy another one if you want to hang a hammock (which will make the price exactly the same, or sometimes even higher, if you take shipments into account)
Always check if they can carry a large amount of weight. This would be written in the description. Straps that can carry over 1500lbs would be the best choice.
Always buy straps that come with tree protectors. Because you don’t want to damage a tree branch by hanging your hammock, while camping. Some camping grounds wouldn’t even allow you to hang your hammock without necessary precautions.
Always check if the straps you are buying are of adjustable length. You will not always find a tree of exactly the same thickness, so it is a good idea to have adjustable length straps. I will save you a lot of trouble later on.

How to hang a Hammock using Hammock straps:
Before, we look at how to hang the hammock using these tree straps, lets look at all the different components:
The exact steps to install a Hammock using hammock straps may be different for different vendors. See the page of that particular vendor for installation instructions. These installation steps are for our recommended vendor Chimps Hammock straps:
- Find strong trees to hang your hammock on. Wrap the CHIMPS tree protectors around trees.
- Wrap your tree strap around the tree (once or twice) according to the thickness and the desired height of your hammock. Most people agree that a hammock shouldn’t be higher than 18 inches from the ground, as too much height is inconvenient and may be bothersome (what I mean is, you don’t want to jump up in order to get inside your hammock).
- When you wrap the strap around the tree, you will have two ends in your hands. One has a D-ring and the other has a loop. Pass the D-ring end trough the loop end and tug firmly to tighten.
- You will see the D-ring end of the strap dangling downwards. Attach a carabiner to this D-ring, and attach the ends of your hammocks to these carabiners. That’s it. No complicated knots or ropes to deal with. It’s simply as easy as it looks.
