Customized Photo Gift:
I believe that customized photo gifts are incredibly precious. They mean that someone cares enough to have given a thought and their time in giving you a gift. I like both making and receiving such gifts (Hint Hint!!). This idea is pretty special to me because it includes a painting of a Polaroid camera (which by the way I Love), with a personalized photo (so it can be given as a gift, or you can make one for yourself!!)

What is a photo Painting?
First up, what is a photo Painting? Well, I have used this word to describe a painting that serves as a photo frame. Hence, Photo Painting.
So now that you are all caught up with the idea of a photo painting (or my version of the definition of photo painting) , let us make our very own customized photo gift featuring a polaroid camera with a picture coming out of it!
You will Need:
- A canvas (as small or as large as you like)> Buy online
- Paints (I just buy the primary colours red, yellow, blue and white & black and then mix them up to make the rest)> Buy online
- A photo (size depends on the size of your painting)
- An xacto knife.
- Tape/glue.
First,
paint the base of the canvas with any color that you want. Pale colors work best, because we need the image of our Polaroid camera to pop, not the background. I painted mine pale blue with flecks of pale violet and white to give it texture. If you want to explore cool background ideas see here.
Now,
that we are done with the background, it’s time to draw our Polaroid camera. Below is the drawing of a Polaroid camera that can be used as a reference, if you want to learn to draw a Polaroid camera. You can either draw it, or print out this picture to a desired size and trace it. It’s up to you.
After,
drawing the camera on your canvas, paint it using this picture as reference. Or if you are not into painting, simply go and get this picture printed on a canvas directly. That will save you a lot of time and trouble. And it will still be a pretty amazing customized photo gift.
Once,
Once you have got your Polaroid camera on the canvas, either painted or printed, you can use an xacto knife and cut along the dotted line as shown below.
Now,
Now, cut your photo according to the size of the slit of this polaroid camera and insert it from the front. Turn over the painting, and tape the other end of the photo to the back of your canvas. This gives an effect of a photo being printed out of a Polaroid camera.
This Photo Painting would look lovely in a kid’s room or could be a very special customized photo gift for a child. I made this for my friend’s son, but used my daughter’s photo for the pictures. This picture is from when she was 4 months old. Oh, time flies! (it really really does…).
